To laugh or cry, Hurt again!
01.30.05 (11:37 am)   [edit]

Ok for more laughs check out Bouillabaisse post on Fox News.  Now that post is no big deal but the comments are interesting.  I’m once again pummeled for having a different take.  My eyes are watering up as I write this.

Sample responses to my initial comment of:

This is hilarious and today’s news only confirms what Brigitte was saying. Glad you linked this. LMAO

"The Rudeness came from the guest"

Ah, LOL, good ole dumbass jbrookins making an ass of himself yet again, LOL

Reply to: jbrookins
Actually you're not happy about it at all jb. That's why you're here acting like a little child trying to bluff his way around.
Only those so wrapped up in their wealth and able to ignore those without jobs, homes, healthcare and even food could laugh at 40 million taxpayer dollars being spent on a party. I'm sure you don't agree. I don't expect you to. I expect you and many like you to defend Bush until the bottom falls out. That will be a sad day indeed.

"Must be all the love and tolerance you have for your fellow man"

You're mistaking me for someone else. I never claimed to have have much love nor tolerance for fascist assholes. Sorry, my limitation, but it's me, and I'm not embarrassed about it.

By the way, you should try the “Are you a fascist” test on our blog. LOL. Give Angie a good laugh. You can find it here:

"How was I acting like a child? "

I'd say more like an asshole. The only noticeable difference between you and the lunatics who plague this blog is you talk without swear words. Wow, big deal, I'm so impressed, man.

Please check out the Fox News link and the complete comments section.  I don't want to be accused of mis-representing anyone. Gotta love it......

Egyptian feminist wisdom
01.30.05 (11:10 am)   [edit]

A veiled Egyptian flower vendor who gave her name only as Um Abdel Rahman dismissed the poll as "a sedative for the people. Democracy is just a decoration."

Wouldn't she like to participate in free elections? "Women speak their minds all the time. I don't need to vote," she said.

If only it were that way here Ms Rahman.  Ok,  just kidding.....Really it was just a joke.   But it is funny what people sometimes say. LMAO this morning over so much.....

Iraqi Elections first thoughts
01.30.05 (8:56 am)   [edit]

Ok, how will the left and other naysayers spin the Iraqi election?  Even Juan Williams of Fox News Sunday had a hard time.  He had to admit the turnout was impressive while still noting we don’t know if this will last.  Well no we don’t know if this will last but we do have a pretty good idea that without the “US intervention” democracy in any form would not be in Iraq today or the foreseeable future.

There was some violence yet it was disappointingly low for those that wished the elections not to take place at all.  Juan Cole is saying the turnout was low in Sunni areas yet he fails revel as much in the high turnout in other areas.  The Belmont Club has a graphic from the BBC of all people with a breakdown of areas and their impression.  Not what the doom and gloom the moonbats wanted to hear.

Does this mean peace will break out?  Of course not.  But it is a blow to the insurgents and hope for many others in the region.  Most notable the Iranians who desire for Democracy is growing daily.  Also noted on a few other blogs is the facts Iraqis are voting from Syria a place where their own residents don’t have much of a say.

There is a line of thought that the Middle East and Muslim/Arabic countries cannot be democratized, that the religion and culture don’t permit this to happen.  But how many times have they had the opportunity?  Perhaps now with Afghanistan and Iraq on their way, they at least have a chance try it.  We will see.  That is with little help from the whining Europeans or the “it’s a quagmire” left in the US.

An Iraqi woman flashes the V-sign for victory after casting her vote in Tehran. Iraqis turned out in force in the first free elections in half a century, defying insurgents who unleashed a wave of suicide and mortar attacks across the country that killed at least 37 people.(AFP/Henghameh Fahimi)

UN Dishonesy-US Stingyness
01.28.05 (8:06 am)   [edit]

Diplomad has another good post on UN dishonesty and US Stingyness.

When it's convenient, Egeland rolls in work done by non-UN actors and makes it seem like the UN has done it, e.g., USAID "cash-for-work" programs have cleared the rubble away and made school re-openings possible -- the UN didn't do that!

Yet when talking about pledges, he mentions only money pledged or given the UN! He attempts to minimize the role of the USA -- by far the biggest contributor to the relief effort. He praises Japan for being in a class by itself. Why? The Japanese have given the UN $229 million. The US is giving only a relatively small portion of its tsunami relief moneys to the UN, so it doesn't count -- quite aside from the fact that even prior to the tsunami the USA was providing about 40% of the WFP and UNHCR budgets. Notice how he can not bring himself to mention AIRCRAFT carriers; they presumably get covered under "and so forth." To mention aircraft carriers would be to acknowledge that the USA is in a class by itself. Once again, we see the nonsense about the logistics operation and the overcoming of bottlenecks; the UN didn't do that. He makes absolutely NO mention of the superb work done by the Australians or the Kiwis. Why? Because they did it on their own or in coordination with the US.

Favorite Places - Garmisch
01.26.05 (9:26 pm)   [edit]

One of my favorite places is Garmisch Germany.  I was lucky enough to spend many weekends and attend a six week language course there back in the 90’s.  It’s a place that seems magical to me.  I remember looking out my window in the mornings and seeing these great mountains surrounding the area.  I’d run each morning down by the river and back up around a narrow path along the side of the hills near our barracks.  I’ve never been in a place better suited to running for me.  I actually looked forward the runs.  See, I’m not really a runner by nature but there it was different.

In the afternoons, after classes were wrapped up, I would head the gym, work out then ride my bike down the pristine trails around the city.  The small huts lined the pathways everywhere.  In town I’d wonder at the paintings that adorned the buildings.  These were common throughout southern Bayern (Bavaria).   The next best thing to the scenery was the food.  I never ate so well.  Even the US hotels had great German food but I stayed away from them as much as I could.  The local restaurants were excellent.  Some might find Garmisch a bit touristy, but a little kitsch was ok by me.

It’s been a while since I was there.  The last time was in 95.  I’ve been in Germany a number of times since then but never made it back south to Garmisch.  I hear there is a new AFRC resort there now.  I’m not sure I’d like that or not.  The small German town atmosphere was what I liked about it in the first place.  Someday I’ll see it again I’m sure.

Every time I have a run in with and extreme lefty I get knocked off the hot blog list.  IT'S A CONSPIRACY I TELL YA!!! LMAO

I'm Hurt
01.23.05 (9:07 am)   [edit]

As usual when you question a lefty anti-American post you get attacked in a most unfriendly manner.  This really hurts my feelings.  I mean being a moderate conservative I know the left cannot believe I have feelings but I do and I want to be loved just like them.  Their attacks are always the same too.  They claim they have evidence or proof but never have time to education a poor slob like me.  (Wiping a tear away)  I question them merely to learn from their immense knowledge and I am only insulted.  Boo hoo….

But I’m still in one piece and take comfort in the fact that while I may not be as “Smart” as the blue state crowd they aren’t running the country.  Bahaaaaa..aaaa aaaaa

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!

I’m pretty sure a lefty didn’t say this.  But their women are hot…you just don’t want them to open their mouths, well in conversation anyhow.

Humm maybe I wasn’t really crying after all….lol……..

Revoke Arnolds Citizenship
01.23.05 (8:31 am)   [edit]

An Austrian politician Peter Pilz says Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Austrian citizenship should be revoked.  Arnold holds duel citizenship and is criticized over his allowing a convicted killer to be put to death in California.  Pilz says, Arnold has "heavily damaged the reputation of the republic."

Well Mr. Pilz certainly has the right to bring this up in Austria but I wonder if he realizes outside of the collaboration of Austria with Hitler’s Germany most people don’t relate Austria with much.  Arnold is an Austrian tourism hit.  I don’t think revoking Arnold’s citizenship would help Austria at all.

Oh did I mention Peter Pilz is a member of the green party?  Well that explains a lot.  WACKOS!!!!!!!

Thoughts on taxes
01.23.05 (7:56 am)   [edit]

Changing the Tax system in the United States seems impossible.  Not because it can’t be done, but because there are too many special interest groups the feel they will lose their piece of the pie.  The problem is the pie isn’t now nor has it really ever been fair.  While it’s true that the top 5 percent pay the most in taxes on paper the reality is that the more you make the more options to reduce the amount you claim as income.  The loopholes destroy the idea of fairness.  A stepped tax system is fine but if we tag on so many deductions that the real amount of income is hidden we will not only lose revenue but we punish those that cannot claim these deductions.

So what to do?  Well the talks we see in Washington from all side continue to sidestep the real issues.  Government needs revenue.  In order to support the basic services the people want monies are needed.  So how do we collect enough to operate and how do we do this in a fair manner?  A flat tax is an option and I like the idea but I see opposition to this by those that feel wealthy people should pay more by percentage than others.  I don’t see this as fair but would be willing to support that if the increase in percentage is reasonable.

I would be happy if we just eliminate all deductions from personal income tax first.  You pay a percentage based on you income and that’s it.  Then move on to the other forms of taxes.  There is now a system where we tax the same dollar many times and again this is confusing and unfair.  We are creating now a system that builds small kingdoms all collecting their own taxes.  We have to limit this.

The tax code should be something a 5th grader could understand.  But of course this is all wishful thinking as too many lawyers will fight tooth and nail for the continuation of confusion, a world in which they thrive.   Politicians will continue to oppose this since they gain much of their power continuing the debate and building money bases.  But it is interesting to think about.

Nope, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people.

They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone because of profiling.

Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other dunder-headed attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves - if they have any such sense.

As the writer of the award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it,
"Stupid is as stupid does."

Abuse? WTF?
01.21.05 (10:56 am)   [edit]

Well if you think our forces sometimes get a raw deal on the whole torture / abuse issue in Iraq check this out.

A Danish army intelligence officer and four military police sergeants have been charged with mistreating Iraqi prisoners in southern Iraq last year.

All five are accused of verbal abuse of detainees, denying them food and water, and forcing them to kneel in discomfort during interrogation.

What the F**k?  I guess in today’s PC climate if you call a terrorist a poopi head you could go to jail while they roam the world lopping heads off.  I bet recruitment in the Danish military sky rockets.

Abbas orders attacks to stop
01.17.05 (12:12 pm)   [edit]

Mahmoud Abbas on Monday ordered Palestinian security forces to stop attacks by Palestinian militants on Israelis.  This may be big news.  If Abbas can stop or at least slow down attacks on Israelis perhaps real peace talks are possible.  Until now we have seen two faces of the Palestinians.  Yasser Arafat continually talked peace on one hand and terror on the other.  The Palestinians will have no peace if they continue the unabated attacks.  They like so many others in the area cannot win against Israel with militant force.  The Israelis and yes the Americans have shown for many years now that they have the will to continue even with daily terror assaults.  If Abbas is serious, much can change in this part of the Middle East.  Unfortunately Palestinian leaders have a poor track record here.

"They're on to us"
01.17.05 (11:52 am)   [edit]

It appears the Diplomad has been watching the BBC also.  Read their post called “They're on to us”.  It’s pretty funny.  But what it underscores is the complete lack of intellectual honesty in the Mainstream media.  While biases are all around not many are more pronounced than the BBCs.    & nbsp;   &n bsp;   &nb sp;   &nbs p;     ;

Just a bit from Diplomad.

OK, now you see why I am worried. You can see how the BBC is finally beginning to understand that the US military is history's ultimate kick-ass machine. It can build roads in the middle of Nowherestan, while simultaneously keeping peace in Bosnia; fighting terrorists around the globe; waging war in Iraq; keeping the North Koreans bottled up; maintaining 12 aircraft carrier battlegroups; and flying massive relief operations in South and SE Asia that are caring for tens-of-thousands of people. In addition, the USA has the heavens full of spy and commo satellites; its robots patrolling the frozen wastes of Mars; begun building an anti-missile shield; and, working with the Aussies, been developing a Mach 10 "scram jet" -- and foisted Madonna on the Brits (A Dr. Evil laugh is permitted here!)

Biased BBC
01.16.05 (3:27 pm)   [edit]

The BBC must be working with CBS.  I mean the level of thier reporting is amazingly low.  The latest article "Iraqi anger at abuser's jail term" is a great example of poor journalism.  In one sentence they state the Iraqi's really haven't been following this case, then state since the verdict is out most of those aware of the case think the sentence should be harsher.  One Iraqi supposedly says the death penalty is what he should have received.  Yeah that sounds logical.  I wonder how many Iraqi’s they talked to.  My guess is very few if any.  It’s just more one sided hack jobs but that’s not a surprise from these guys.

I would bet the Iraqi’s didn’t even know what the BBC was talking about until they informed them of the horrors they (the BBC) believed happened.

I can picture the BBC reporter yelling from his safe hotel room “hey what do you guys think of the sentence for the American soldier”.  Confused Iraqi’s looking at each other, “what did he say”? “I think he asked what we should do with tyrants and dictators”.  Both men then turn to the reporter whose head can barely be seen and yell back “Death to them”.  The BBC reporter turns to his CBS partner and says, “See they all think the sentence should be worse”.  “Well, shouldn’t we ask some more people”?  They look at each other; “haha, that’s a good one” they laughingly yell out together.

France..I hear their "whine" is good
01.15.05 (4:51 pm)   [edit]

Ok I'm not in France so I can confirm this but Last of the famous has and interesting and sad post on the French response to the tsunami disaster.

The report tells us that France has only 1 helicopter on the scene, a Dauphin. However this one is on loan from the manufacturer, Aérospatiale, and is normally used to shuttle around executives, not to move large amounts of cargo.

Sporting a sour smile, a French soldier is interviewed:

For the moment, we don't have the infrastructure in place, if you will, for logistics. The tents, the shelters, the hospital grounds. We can't begin to treat people under these circumstances.

When the news team arrived, the day's mission was no more than the installation of a latrine. The narrator says:

Privately, the doctors admit that the first emergency phase has passed and that the French have missed it.

On screen, we then see a French doctor say... "As soon as our supplies gets here. No problem." Then we are treated to the image of the French begging for assistance from an Indonesian colonel! "We're expecting helicopters tomorrow," he says, asking for two trucks so they can move supplies. The colonel laughs and claps him on the shoulder. Then the French meet with some Americans. "It's been tough for us," says a French firefighter. "The Americans prove goodnatured toward the 'Frenchies,'" says the narrator. "But not much else." Then a big, impressive American Chinook helicopter arrives, empty, to pick up American journalists. French men looking dejected....

...The report ends with the following summation:

... that the French army should even now be unable to provide them with a few helicopters 15 days after the fact is surprising, especially given the public outcry that the tsunami provoked. It is as though France no longer has the means even to express its emotions.

Read the whole thing it's a sad statement of the Fall of the French.. again...

"Count me Blue" Baahaaaa
01.15.05 (3:09 pm)   [edit]

Liberal Democrats continually tell us how the Conservative “Red State” people are trying to divide this country yet they have no problem whatsoever creating cute little “Count me Blue” bracelets.  This stunt may anger some on the right but it shouldn’t I mean it will help identify those that are more likely to step into oncoming traffic and now we can help direct them in the correct direction.  The “RIGHT” direction.

Muslim scarf yes or no?
01.15.05 (2:57 pm)   [edit]

Should Muslims be allowed to wear the Hijab (headscarf) in public schools?  I’ve come across this question in the news a few times.  I came across this AP article today which describes the changing of the a Tennessee school dress code to allow the headscarf.  I remember growing up and seeing the headscarf but at the time I never really thought about it much.

Now this has come up a few times in Germany particularly in Bayern (Bavaria) where the schools have been forced to adopt a number of new rules due to Muslim religious issues.  While some of the Germans make a case for not allowing the headscarf I find them unconvincing.   There was an interesting case where a Muslim was denied a teaching job in Baden-Wuerttemberg because she wore a scarf.  The German court ruled that she could wear the scarf yet also said the individual states could ban scarf’s if they felt the item unduly influenced pupils.  Baden-Wuerttemberg in April 2004 banned the wearing of religious headgear.  What they may have not really expected was the high court to also rule that the law must apply to nuns as well.

I personally don’t find the wearing of religious headgear offensive at all.  Whether it’s a teacher or student wearing a Jewish yarmulke, a Muslim scarf or a Nun’s habit I doubt it interferes with the teaching of students.  It does give the students some perspective on any biases the teacher may have and knowing that is good.

Our own constitution guarantees freedom of religion not freedom from religion so lets not be so afraid of religious expression provided that expression doesn’t promote violence against others. There are too many activist atheist that hate religion of any kind.  Their own insecurities being the bases for thier silly attacks.  As an Agnostic I want to hear and see it all.....

Prince Harry flogging
01.14.05 (8:29 am)   [edit]

Prince Harry is sure taking a beating.  So he went to a costume party dressed as a NAZI.  Well I guess we should just hang him now.  I mean is there really anything worse than going to a party dressed like a fiend.  Of course we should also end costume parties since other have seen the likes of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, fiends to the liberals.  It’s not like there are real bad guys out there preaching hate openly is there?   We’ll let foreign born clerics run around Britain calling for the death of various writers, Jews, Christians and any others that don’t tow their party line yet vilify a young mans choice of a costume.

Was it insensitive?  Well that would depend more on who was at the party and if they were offended or took it as a joke.  I hate all the bullshit preached in the news and elite circles about tolerance and yet none of these groups can relax and laugh now and then.

Was it smart?  Probably not, but Harry is 20 years old.  Have you never done anything dumb at that age?

Today Prince Charles said enough is enough and proclaimed and end to this discussion saying Harry has done enough with his apology.  I say hell yeah Prince.  Stand up to this circling of sharks for your son.  This isn’t even news.

Hope in Germany
01.14.05 (5:52 am)   [edit]

There is hope for Germany.  Not all Germans have given into the cowering please leave us alone we’ll do anything you ask crowd.  Read this little gem by Mathias Dopfner the CEO of Axel Springer one of Germany’s biggest newspaper publishers and one of the leading international media enterprises.

His article is titled Europe - Thy Name is Cowardice.  Check it out.

Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe to ignore 300,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace-movement, to issue bad grades to George Bush. A particularly grotesque form of appeasement is reacting to the escalating violence by Islamic fundamentalists in Holland and elsewhere by suggesting that we should really have a Muslim holiday in Germany....

...In the meantime, Europe sits back with charismatic self-confidence in the multicultural corner instead of defending liberal society's values and being an attractive center of power on the same playing field as the true great powers, America and China.

On the contrary-we Europeans present ourselves, in contrast to the intolerant, as world champions in tolerance, which even (Germany's Interior Minister) Otto Schily justifiably criticizes. Why? Because we're so moral? I fear it's more because we're so materialistic.

For his policies, Bush risks the fall of the dollar, huge amounts of additional national debt and a massive and persistent burden on the American economy-because everything is at stake....

Fallujah residents angered
01.11.05 (2:59 am)   [edit]

It seems there are some returning residents in the city of Fallujah that are unhappy with the condition they find their city.  The Associated Press reports suggest this is primarily blamed on the Americans.  While the military claims fewer complaints.  Without being there it’s nearly impossible to know what the ground truth is.  After all the slanted reports that have come from the press I can’t take their reports serious.  Knowing the military, leaders will naturally put a good face on events regardless.  So I can only comment on what I read and know from experience.  My reply to the angered people of Fallujah is harboring terrorist can be costly.   It’s kind of like having a meth lab next door and you don’t call the police.  Don’t be surprised if your house is caught in an explosion of chemicals or is raided by mistake.  If the residents of Fallujah had not let terrorist take root in their city it would not have come down to the action taken by American forces.

"Little Respect for Europe"
01.10.05 (2:17 pm)   [edit]

David Medienkritik has a great piece taken from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).

A piece written by Jochen Buchsteiner.  Here is just a small part.

Little Respect for Europe

While American soldiers were delivering emergency supplies to isolated disaster areas and Australian doctors were treating the injured, Europeans were having meetings or, worse yet, trying to set dates for meetings. The French Minister of Public Health, Douste-Blazy, posed a rhetorical question while visiting Sri Lanka: was it "normal" that his colleagues in Brussels held their first discussions on the subject a full ten days after the catastrophe? His answer was devastating – Europe’s actions were "not concrete.". ...

Europe has neither the power, nor the position, nor the material to make a logistic contribution worth mentioning. It is the strong, not the likable, who can provide effective help. Help is provided not by freighters, but by aircraft carriers. The starter’s gun for this massive humanitarian action was fired in Washington, not in Brussels or Berlin. ...

What the terrorist are saying
01.10.05 (1:21 pm)   [edit]

Michael Ledeen has an interesting article on that discusses the links between Iraq, Syria, Iran and a captured Terrorist.

The connection between the insurgents and Iran and Syria has been know since the beginning of the war yet still seems to get little media attention.  There is reluctance even in our Government to admit what field commanders already know.  Iranian and Syrian intelligence agents have been running resources to the insurgents for a while and actively recruiting fighters to keep the pot stirred.   Will we finally face these truths after the Iraqi election?  Wretchard at the Belmont Clubs touched on this question in his post here.

My fear is that political pressure will hamper our War on Terror and the same people who have been funding and fueling this fire will continue.

Germans and Fashion?
01.10.05 (1:05 pm)   [edit]

Well to add to the good will I hope to show on my blog for those that I tend to disagree with here is something I hope the Germans are right about.

Speaking of fashion, Wippermann predicted that 2005 will see a return to stricter differentiation between the sexes, with women wearing the romantic, feminine styles of the 1950s, and men dressing either in classic suits, or sporty, athletic clothing.

"Fashion is really the last vestige for men and women to express their gender and sexuality, as in other realms, men and women have achieved more equality," Wippermann said.

We really do need to dress a little better world wide I think.  Now I wouldn’t ever try to force people to wear what I think looks good but it would be nice if European fashion would get back to real clothes.  Maybe then you could actually buy something that looked decent and fit.  We’ll have to wait and see though.  The modern German isn’t really known for their color coordinated outfits.

Someday I'll post again

Do too many issues this week I have been unable to post like I would like to.  I hope to be back posting after Tuesday the 11th.  Thank you for you patience.  I know that I must respect my seven readers so I will post again soon…

Blade Trinity
01.01.05 (8:35 pm)   [edit]

I went to see Blade Trinity tonight.  I still think Wesley Snipes was made for this part.  So how was it?  Well look, it’s a marvel character so with that in mind it’s a lot of fun.  This time out Blade is pitted against the strongest vampire of them all Dracula.  But since it’s a blade movie we all know how it will end.  But I don’t care.  I like the character and the action.  So if you want mindless fun and you like vampire hunter movies check it out.
